About Us

Darwin Biological is a British firm based just outside of Shrewsbury, the birth place of its namesake, supplying quality products to secondary schools, colleges and universities across the UK.

Our company was founded on the principal of providing our customers with our team’s extensive knowledge and expertise to always provide the best product or specimen for your lab, if you can't find what you're looking for please ask as we are constantly adding to our range.

As a family company we believe strongly in flexible working that fits around our employees' family commitments, and consequently we close for part of every school holiday (Orders received during this time will be processed upon our return.)

Our Values

At Darwin we believe a commitment to scientific excellence is not just something we teach, it's something we live.

It is because of this belief that we take our environmental and social responsibility so seriously and are always looking for ways to develop and promote greener working practices.

It means that all of our specimens are British and preserved in-house, that we only select suppliers with a proven commitment to animal welfare, and that every plant we sell is grown locally.

It means that we refuse to pollute our planet unnecessarily, that we only use packaging that is reused, recyclable, and/or compostable.

It means that our team is committed to scientific education that is engaging, responsible and lots of fun, so that the next generation can be inspired to carry the baton forward. We support like-minded British institutions, such as the Linnean Society, and are proud to be a Living Wage Employer.
